Advance voting opens Wednesday with one fixed public site in 39 municipalities
Advance voting opens across Sweden on Wednesday, but 39 of the country's 290 municipalities have registered only one fixed public voting site, according to a new SVT review of Election Authority data.

Almost half of Swedish voters cast their ballots early. The Election Authority says eligible voters can use any advance-voting site nationwide from 26 August until election day on 13 September.
Municipalities choose their locations and hours, while election law requires at least one site to open every day. SVT's count excludes institutions with restricted access and mobile voting, and municipalities may still add locations.
In Flen, more than 12,000 eligible voters share one fixed site in the town centre, down from three in 2022. A library bus will visit six smaller communities twice each, while Malmköping gets four visits.
Residents should check the Election Authority's site finder for current addresses and opening hours.
