200 Uppsala children still lack school bus cards
Two hundred children in Uppsala still lack school travel cards after the municipality replaced automatic distribution with an application system for the new school year.

The change means parents must apply for cards for children in compulsory school and adapted compulsory school. Applications submitted by 15 April were guaranteed to be processed before term began, but some families say the information never reached them.
The municipality has handled more than 6,000 applications and is processing the remaining late cases. Until cards arrive, affected families must buy tickets because UL and bus drivers will not allow free interim travel.
Eligibility starts at journeys longer than two kilometres for preschool class and years 1 to 3, and four kilometres for years 4 to 9. Upper-secondary students keep the earlier automatic system, with a six-kilometre threshold.
